The rundown

What it is, and why it's here

Most hand grinders are a compromise you tolerate because they are portable. The C40 is the one people keep using at home even when they own an electric grinder, which tells you most of what you need to know.

The Nitro Blade burr is made from a high-nitrogen stainless steel with a fine martensitic structure, chosen because it holds an edge and stays flavour neutral. The click system locks a setting in place so you can move from espresso to cold brew and back without guessing. Built in Germany, and it comes with two 40g bean jars, one dark glass with a lid and one polymer you would struggle to break.

Why this one

Features that actually matter

01

The burr is the whole argument

Nitro Blade is cut from a high-alloyed, high-nitrogen stainless steel with a fine martensitic structure. Difficult to machine, holds an edge, and gives you the particle distribution that makes turning a handle worth the effort.

02

Steel picked for taste, not spec sheets

Nitro Rex carries over 17% chromium with balanced vanadium and molybdenum. Corrosion resistant, wear resistant and flavour neutral, which matters more than it sounds when you are grinding a delicate light roast.

03

Two jars, one you cannot break

A dark glass jar with a lid for the bench and a clear polymer one for the bag. Around 40g each, which is a couple of brews or one very serious one.

Questions we actually get

The grinder with its black-lacquered oak crank knob, a clear polymer bean jar, a dark glass bean jar with a lid, a small Comandante wrist band and a merino wool felt mat.
Yes. The click system locks your setting in place, so you can run fine for espresso and coarse for cold brew and find your way back to the same spot every time.
One is dark glass with a lid, the other is clear polymer and effectively unbreakable. Both are food safe, both hold around 40g, and both wash out with hot water.
A powder coating. Comandante describe it as their nod to the Bavarian Alps near the workshop, granite with snow on it.
